Ayman Reffai
About
Dr. Ayman Reffai is a biomedical research scientist specializing in the molecular characterization of human disease, including cancer. Trained in molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, pathology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics across Morocco and the United States at Stanford University, he combines experimental and computational methodologies to uncover biologically meaningful molecular signatures and regulatory networks that drive disease initiation and progression.
With an international research background, Ayman brings a global perspective to biomedical science and thrives in highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research environments. Beyond his research, he is actively engaged in scientific mentorship and global research training initiatives, with a strong commitment to making a positive impact on both the scientific community and society at large.
2025-present
Biomedical Research in Cancer Biology and Multiomics
I am currently continuing my research at Stanford University, focusing on multi-omics research, biomarker discovery, bioinformatics, and translational approaches to better understand disease biology and advance precision medicine. I’m also preparing scientific publications and contributing to ongoing and future research initiatives.
2020-2024
PhD Research Project- Biomedicine
My research focused on the molecular characterization of nasopharyngeal carcinoma through integrative proteomics and bioinformatics approaches, providing one of the first comprehensive molecular insights into this malignancy in Moroccan and African populations. By combining molecular profiling with epidemiological and clinical analyses, the project aimed to uncover disease-associated biological pathways, identify potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, and advance the understanding of NPC biology. This work establishes a foundation for future mechanistic and translational studies aimed at improving early detection, patient stratification, and precision therapeutic strategies for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
2022-present
Committee member and mentor- ReachSci Society at Cambridge
Teaming up with PhDs from top universities, I help develop and design research programs for students and early career researchers, while also providing mentorship and high-quality training in scientific research.
2023-present
Mentor/Teacher- Lumiere Education
I mentor and teach at Lumiere by providing excellent students with personalized research programs to learn about the cutting-edge in their field of interest and produce an independent research project and scientific paper.

Ayman was accepted into the prestigious Fulbright program and would become the FIRST Fulbrighter from Morocco to study at Stanford. His work here created a proteomic foundation for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. I'm excited about how that foundation will be extended in coming years.
Parag Mallick
Associate Professor at Stanford University AND Founder at Nautilus BiotechnologyI had the honor to supervise Dr. Ayman Reffai during his PhD and he was brilliant. Ayman is an outstanding independent scientist with great communication skills and a unique combination of technical expertise, leadership, and passion for research and mentoring.
